I think the church gathering your trying to remember the name of is “Home Coming”. If I remember right from when I was little, it involved a very long service followed by a lot of grease and heavy deserts. Amazing I didn’t drop dead of a heart attack by the age of 12.

I think your referring to Pentacostal Tent Revivals. I remember when I was a young lad seeing those in the city.
